| To me, the materials used in creating a collage provoke an emotional response which I find to be very satisfying. The tactile aspect of the materials, along with their color and shape, sets a rhythm for each piece. I do not plan as I work, rather, I follow where the materials lead. In my most recent series of small works, I have selected roofing tar paper as the base upon which to build. |

As always, when a person sees my work they bring to it their own life experience. Each person has many layers of emotion, visual imprints, tactile patterns and their own history. Just as the viewer, my mixed media collage also has many layers and its own history. So naturally, I am always curious as to what each viewer discovers in the work. For example, in the same piece one might see a landscape, while another sees a cat, the one viewer having lived on a farm, the other a cat lover. In speaking with viewers I have found it fascinating the extent to which they see the content of the work based on their life experiences.
