I am a person who loves the physical process of throwing clay. I am most comfortable, clay spattered, amongst my work in all its various stages. When I came to clay it felt like coming home. I now devote all my time to classes, workshops and self study in the art of ceramics. I approach the wheel with an abandon and boldness that conveys humor, freedom and imagination. During the process of creation I employ a whimsical style which includes texture and imperfection.
Raku has been my passion. It’s quick and unpredictable. To fire a stoneware piece is a 24 hour wait, with raku, the fire is approximately one hour. It is exciting, you never know what your going to get. Just when I feel comfortable with the predictability of how a glaze will fire, something different will occur. Which is half the fun!
