The Glass Artist
The art of glass is centuries old. Forethought, visualization, and patience are inherent in those who bend and shape molten glass into objects of art. Master glass blowers, well practiced at their craft, passed their expertise down through the generations. Artisans learned their trade living and working in glass centers of the world.
Today, the independent glass blower can ply his trade anywhere. He knows no constraining bounds of ‘mould-blown’ design, prefixed novelty, or conventional idea. Artist Myles Freedman creates hand blown glass with the spirit of the masters pulsing inside him. He utilizes bold multiplicity of color, daring technical experimentation, and innovative artistry. Whether decorative, sculptural, or utilitarian, Freedman’s art glass is aesthetic beauty immersed in 3-dimensional work.
Myles Freedman has studied with professionals at Pilchuck Glass School, Washington and at The Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass, NY. He advises and collaborates with masters and peers in the art glass department of Santa Monica College. His work exhibits in galleries, retail venues across the country, and in numerous private collections. He continues his craft in Southern California where he calls home.
