| My landscapes and seascapes are an expression of my deep connection to nature. Although I prefer to paint landscapes en plein air, I also paint in my studio. I long to capture the mystery of beautiful or intriguing natural places, especially in the Santa Monica Mountains where I find a limitless source of discovery and inspiration. I like most to paint the places that few people have seen, off the beaten path, or to interpret common places with a new voice. My two current landscape series are entitled "Sacred Spaces" and "At the Beach". |
| When I paint abstract works, I paint intuitively. I do not begin a piece with a pre-conceived notion of a composition. Rather, I begin painting and try my best to follow the path of the composition as it unfolds. I ponder the human connection with the universe or "the beyond" in my four current abstract series: "Openings", "Metamorphoses", "Juxtaposition", and "Mission to Mars". I am exploring the freedom of a mind at play, but sometimes play can be serious business. |
